The Positive of a Negative

Our mind does work in a strange and funny way, it can teach us to love and understand one another but; when it’s not working it can be strong enough to get us killed.

The topic today is how can we take a Negative and change it to a Positive, and so far this trick no one has figured out yet. How do we get the brain to do either – or.

Studies have shown that the brain secretes different chemicals for different emotions like pain, hate or love.

The one I am concerned about here is the one they call depression, which is diffidently a pain. Studies have shown that a very successful person and a total loser can have the same negative chemical release and without help could kill them both.

Yes, they do have drugs that doctors will gladly give you to fix your mental state, but what if you don’t like drugs?

If our brain is totally UNDER – WORKED as studies have shown, why can’t we get beyond that 10 to 12 percent they say we now use and push it up to a  50 percent mental goody – goody fix?

I ask this because there is one mental state I will talk about here and that is PTSD, a battle of the brain with reality and a lot of our military come back from war with it, including me.

I have dealt with it all my life, but it took 73 years before I could speak the words out loud or tell someone I have it and even though I am typing this story it is right there kicking my butt.

Yes, I could go to the doctor and get some really really good meds, but in my case I tried something I learned by mistake using pot a long , long, long time ago. No, I didn’t say go get some pot and if I used it and I’m not saying I did because, if I did it, would be like what Bill Clinton said, I didn’t inhale.

I know drugs will only take your mind away from reality, but I also know that may have helped vets stay alive another day. This mellow feeling state is what I am talking about now.  How can I get to that mellow state not using drugs?

I learned to spot and adjust to that mellow state years ago and cancel the pot state over time. I believe they called it meditation. At first I knew nothing about what I was doing, talking about or experiencing, but I knew it helped a lot when I practiced it.

Over the years I learned and studied a lot about meditation and the how’s and why’s of why it works and how it worked for me. It might not for you. But it was better then that drug comatose most medications give me, so at least look into it.

It has become more available, understood and taught even in the United States, because the VA now has classes on it.

Meditation is not a sure kill fix, especially if you try it short term, but with practice you learn to see the clues that drive you nuts and you now learn to control them so they do less damage to your happy side and that is great.

If you need information on, who and where and the why of this type of therapy just go to our web page we will try to help. Note: we are not doctors and give 0 medical advice, so you won’t get a bill.

But ALWAYS remember if you can’t control it call 911

Healthy habits can lengthen life

American don’t live as long as people in most other high-income countries. Heart disease and cancer are two of the most common preventable chronic diseases in the United States. An unhealthy lifestyle increases your risk for these and other chronic diseases that can lead to an early death.

To explore the effects of healthy habits on Americans’ health and lifespan, a team of scientists led by Frank Hu at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health analyzed data from more than 78,000 women and 44,000 men who participated in two nationwide surveys: the Nurses’ Health Study (NHS) and the Health Professionals Follow-up Study (HPFS). They used other data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to estimate the distribution of lifestyle choices and death rates across the U.S. population. The research was supported in part by NIH’s National Heart Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI) and National Cancer Institute (NCI). Results were published online in Circulation on April 30, 2018.

The team collected data on five different low-risk lifestyle factors and compared health outcomes for those who adopted all five with those who didn’t adopt any. The five factors included maintaining a healthy eating pattern (getting the daily recommended amounts of vegetables, fruit, nuts, whole grains, polyunsaturated fatty acids, and omega-3 fatty acids and limiting red and processed meats, beverages with added sugar, trans fat, and sodium); not smoking; getting at least 3.5 hours of moderate to vigorous physical activity each week; drinking only moderate amounts of alcohol (one drink or less per day for women or two drinks or less per day for men); and maintaining a normal weight (body mass index between 18.5 and 24.9). The researchers also collected information about the participants’ medical history, such as heart disease, cancer, and diabetes, as well as when they died.

At age 50, women who didn’t adopt any of the five healthy habits were estimated to live on average until they were 79 years old and men until they were 75.5 years. In contrast, women who adopted all five healthy lifestyle habits lived 93.1 years and men lived 87.6 years.

Independently, each of the five healthy lifestyle factors significantly lowered the risk of total death, death from cancer, and death from heart disease.

“This study underscores the importance of following healthy lifestyle habits for improving longevity in the U.S. population,” Hu says. “However, adherence to healthy lifestyle habits is very low. Therefore, public policies should put more emphasis on creating healthy food, built, and social environments to support and promote healthy diet and lifestyles.”

Always on my mind

We are working with Go 4 Life this year and here is a good article.

Treatment for Overweight & Obesity

Common treatments for overweight and obesity include losing weight through healthy eating, being more physically active, and making other changes to your usual habits. Weight-management programs may help some people lose weight or keep from regaining lost weight. Some people who have obesity are unable to lose enough weight to improve their health or are unable to keep from regaining weight. In such cases, a doctor may consider adding other treatments, including weight-loss medicines, weight-loss devices, or bariatric surgery.

Experts recommend losing 5 to 10 percent of your body weight within the first 6 months of treatment. [10] If you weigh 200 pounds, this means losing as little as 10 pounds. Losing 5 to 10 percent of your weight may

Healthy eating plan and regular physical activity

Following a healthy eating plan with fewer calories is often the first step in trying to treat overweight and obesity.

People who are overweight or have obesity should also start regular physical activity when they begin their healthy eating plan. Being active may help you use calories. Regular physical activity may help you stay at a healthy weight.

Changing your habits

Changing your eating and physical activity habits and lifestyle is difficult, but with a plan, effort, regular support, and patience, you may be able to lose weight and improve your health. The following tips may help you think about ways to lose weight, engage in regular physical activity, and improve health over the long-term.

  • Be prepared for setbacks—they are normal. After a setback, like overeating at a family or workplace gathering, try to regroup and focus on getting back to your healthy eating plan as soon as you can. Try to eat only when you’re sitting at your dining room or kitchen table. At work, avoid areas where treats may be available. Track your progress using online food or physical activity trackers, such as the Body Weight Planner, that can help you keep track of the foods you eat, your physical activity, and your weight. These tools may help you stick with it and stay motivated.
  • Set goals. Having specific goals can help you stay on track. Rather than “be more active,” set a goal to walk 15 to 30 minutes before work or at lunch on Monday and Friday. If you miss a walk on Monday, pick it up again Tuesday.
  • Seek support. Ask for help or encouragement from your family, friends, or health care professionals. You can get support in person, through email or texting, or by talking on the phone. You can also join a support group. Specially trained health professionals can help you change your lifestyle.

Weight-management programs

Some people benefit from a formal weight-management program. In a weight-management program, trained weight-management specialists will design a broad plan just for you and help you carry out your plan. Plans include a lower-calorie diet, increased physical activity, and ways to help you change your habits and stick with them. You may work with the specialists on-site (that is, face-to-face) in individual or group sessions. The specialists may contact you regularly by telephone or internet to help support your plan. Devices such as smartphones, pedometers, and accelerometers may help you track how well you are sticking with your plan.

Some people may also benefit from online weight-management programs or commercial weight-loss programs.

Weight-loss medicines

When healthy eating and physical activity habits are not enough, your doctor may prescribe medicines to treat overweight and obesity.

You should try to stick with your healthy eating plan and continue getting regular physical activity while taking weight-loss medicines.

You may see ads for herbal remedies and dietary supplements  that claim to help you lose weight. But many of these claims are not true. Some of these supplements can even have serious side effects. Talk with your doctor before taking any over-the-counter herbal remedies or dietary supplements for the purpose of trying to lose weight.

Weight-loss devices

Your doctor may consider weight-loss devices  if you haven’t been able to lose weight or keep from gaining back any weight you lost with other treatments. Because weight-loss devices have only recently been approved, researchers do not have long-term data on their safety and effectiveness. Weight-loss devices include

  • Electrical stimulation system. The electrical stimulation system uses a device a surgeon places in your abdomen with laparoscopic surgery . The device blocks nerve activity between your stomach and brain.
  • Gastric balloon system. For the gastric balloon system, a doctor places one or two balloons in your stomach through a tube that goes in your mouth. Once the balloons are in your stomach, the surgeon fills them with salt water so they take up more space in your stomach and help you feel fuller.
  • Gastric emptying system. A gastric emptying system uses a pump to drain part of the food from your stomach after a meal. The device includes a tube that goes from the inside of your stomach to the outside of your abdomen. About 20 to 30 minutes after eating, you use the pump to drain the food from your stomach through the tube into the toilet.

Bariatric surgery

Bariatric surgery includes several types of operations that help you lose weight by making changes to your digestive system. Bariatric surgery may be an option if you have extreme obesity and haven’t been able to lose enough weight to improve your health or keep from gaining back the weight you lost with other treatments. Bariatric surgery also may be an option at lower levels of obesity if you have serious health problems, such as type 2 diabetes or sleep apnea, related to obesity. Bariatric surgery can improve many of the medical conditions linked to obesity, especially type 2 diabetes.

Special diets

Calorie-restricted diets

Your doctor may recommend a lower-calorie diet such as 1,200 to 1,500 calories a day for women and 1,500 to 1,800 calories a day for men. The calorie level depends on your body weight and physical activity level. A lower calorie diet with a variety of healthy foods will give you the nutrients you need to stay healthy.

Intermittent fasting

Intermittent fasting is another way of reducing food intake that is gaining attention as a strategy for weight loss and health benefits. Alternate-day fasting is one type of intermittent fasting that consists of a “fast day” (eating no calories to one-fourth of caloric needs) alternating with a “fed day,” or a day of unrestricted eating. Researchers have conducted only a few studies of intermittent fasting as a strategy for weight loss. They have no long-term data on the safety and effectiveness of intermittent fasting for long-term weight maintenance.

When EVIL is no longer scared of the light.

Watching the current events of our world today should scare everyone, but it no longer does. When “there’s no way in hell” becomes hell, we have lost the society that made this nation what it was.

Sorry to say – WE – let it happen. It didn’t happen over night though, evil has a very long waiting period, so it took a few generations. It is a great game plan and a society that quits protection itself fails. The society let the basic fundamentals that built this nation fall apart by a chosen few, who as we see now were as goal minded as a NFL team. Evil knew who, what and where to get the plan started, he had worked it over and over starting with the first 2.

The question is, can we now get it back or is America’s time over?

I’m writing this little piece just after I saw evil come out of the darkness and smile over his newly concord home front.

Many people believe America was made by God because of our religious beliefs. The leaders of this great nation should be strong in that belief. That there is a God and we will follow his rules.

The other day our last president’s colors finally came out.  Here for the first time we now know he is a Muslim, he was brought up to believer in a false god and every person not of their beliefs dies. We actually elected a man to govern us for 8 years that had a 0  credit history on how to govern, he was bought and payed for by a chosen few.

For 8 years of evil with over 20 in his training by muslims that hate the true God,  he was put on the top to finish the work off.

Why do I think this.

The other day obama and his wife, two people that were on the top of a great nation show the true color of their muslim hearts. Two paintings were created one of him, one of her. Note by 2 different art people.

He choose a black man who’s history of painting has white people being decapitated. He was so happy. Said it made him feel like he was on a throne. Look at the painting, the only question I had was which side was the toilet paper holder put on?

She choose a black lady who’s hate of white people runs for years, especially white women and her past paintings show it all. What I can’t figure our is why she is trying to make Obama as a goldie locks child because the picture looks like a white girl.

The last 9 years might show how the down fall happened. We won’t know until it really happens, but it will.

Corruption runs rampant in almost every state there is now. We fail at education, health care and moral beliefs. The next generation does not have a clue on what is happening.

I wonder what a socialist America will do for the next generation?

Teaching Me to Love

Blanco 2002 to 2018

He taught, me to love and he taught me to cry.

He made me laugh when I didn’t even know why.

I watched him grow from the day he showed up, not having a home a rough little mutt.

Our time together came, and the time now has gone. and now it’s time to let him go to his heavenly home.

He will join some other friends that have showed me love too, my friends Chelsea, Snickers, and gray matter too. But, let’s not forget Sage, Morris and you know who because they will be there with dog just looking for you.

Time went to fast, I didn’t seem to notice and before I knew it sixteen years had passed.

But the day now has come when I need to say good bye and the tears will flow again in my sadden eyes.

Only some will know my pain as I looked at his eyes, we all understands we all must die. But as my days go by I know one thing. There’s was no end to his affection, he loved me from day one and I loved him back.

Waking up, it might be your last!

Every day we all do it. In fact we have to, it’s how we start our day. Most of us start with a smile then head to the shower and then that cop of coffee. Some just say shit, get up and get the coffee, some hit the ten minute button.

What if it wasn’t that way for 10 men and women you might not know? They are called our military and today when they woke up from little or no sleep they had one thing on their mind.

To commit suicide. To end the pain.

Yes, every day 10 of our military men and women will end their life because of what they can not control any longer. The war in their minds.

Exercise and you

Success means good eating and good exercise
Follow a moderate low-fat diet and an exercise program that combines aerobic activity and strength training. That’s the key to losing weight — and keeping it off.

Begin slowly with exercises you find comfortable and build as your body becomes accustomed to the activity level. Don’t start out too hard or too fast. Chances are you may injure yourself or quit before you’ve done yourself much good.

And remember, you can’t lose weight overnight. Set a realistic weight-loss goal for yourself — like one to two pounds a week — eat healthy, get going on a program of regular physical activity, and you’ll be delighted by what you accomplish.

Maintaining a lower, healthier body weight is something you can accomplish. So start now and keep on going! Source: American Council on
